In-Person Worship Begins June 28, 9 AM
IN-PERSON WORSHIP BEGINS ON JUNE 28
Following the probable shift of public health restrictions from Phase 3 to Phase 4 of Governor Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan on Friday, June 26, Prairie Avenue Christian Church will resume in-person Sunday worship gathering on Sunday, June 28. We want to share some details about what this will look like in the early stages as we work to keep everyone safe.
When you arrive at church, plan to park near the garage door entrance. The garage door will be open (these will be the only way to enter and exit, all other doors will be locked). As you enter, you will be directed either to gather in the garage or in the Fellowship hall. Seating will be set up in the appropriate space. Hand santizer will be available. At the entrance, you will be able to drop your offering and to pick up your individual communion cup. Seating will be according to distancing guidelines, and you will only be permitted to seat with those of your household.
We are requesting that you wear a mask to follow CDC protocol. We ask that you refrain from shaking hands, hugging, or otherwise physically greeting others.
Our worship time will look, and function differently than it has in the past. During at least the first month, we will not be offering nursery space. We will only be singing a verse of a hymn or chorus. Obviously, we will not pass the communion trays or the offering plates.
The basement restrooms will be available for use. The rest of the building will be closed off as we want to maintain a smaller area that will need to be cleaned following worship each week.
The church building will also be open to church groups for meetings. The Dove, Inc. Children's Clothing Room will remain closed until guidelines and operations are approved.
As per Phase Four guidelines, worship gatherings will be limited to about 50 people. We encourage you to stay home if you are feeling ill, have a fever or cough. No one should feel pressured to attend in-person at this time. Online worship will continue for the foreseeable future.
We appreciate your patience as we move into this uncharted territory.
